One major advantage with animal - assisted therapy is that the therapist can use one therapy pet to help a client achieve a variety of goals like physical as well as psychological goals together in one therapy session, something that is not always possible with other treatment modalities.
The warm playful presence of our therapy pets helps to lower anxiety and increase the comfort levels in a person, which is especially effective with withdrawn, uncommunicative clients. Having a therapy pet around is also a very strong motivator for the client to continue therapy. |
